Shields

Shields have long been created as a functional means of protection, with symbols imbued with the powers of the allies and supernatural/ divine beings that guard us from harm. Shields can also call forward our own courage and strength, providing a reflection of who we are and bringing to light the sacredness within.

Sacred Shield-Making is a yearlong exploratory program, guiding us around the quadrants of the Medicine Wheel to fashion a set of personal medicine shields. These shields represent our unique creation, depicting a balance of our knowledge and experience in each sacred direction, and providing a mirror to reflect the truth of our own medicine.

We gather one Saturday a month. Sessions incorporate teaching, discussion, meditation and journeying, shield crafting, journaling, sharing, and ceremony. Open to women from all walks of life, these teachings build one upon another, bringing a deeper understanding of the Medicine Wheel and ourselves, as well as our connection to all our sacred relations living on Mother Earth.

Facilitators

Sandy D'Entremont, author of Path of the White Wolf, is a sacred fire-keeper, ceremonial singer, intuitive reader, drum-maker, and shield-maker. A student of earth-based spiritual practices for over 25 years, Sandy guides and supports ceremonial circles, holding the container to foster initiation, transition, and transformation, while weaving a strand of light heartedness into the process.

Leslie Fleming brings an energetic passion to teaching all types of crafts and leatherwork. A sacred fire-keeper, drum-maker and self-defense instructor, Leslie works with men and women from all walks of life to bring them in alignment with their authentic self and empowering their warrior spirit.
